The Stone House
Overview
This is just the most romantic spot in the hills with beautiful views down to the coast. The designer-owner has put so much thought into this fabulous conversion which she discovered as an ancient and roofless farmhouse with thick stone walls and original features. The interiors, filled with beautiful pieces of furniture from her travels and stunning textiles as well as a generous offering of books, stunning wooden objets and glorious ceramics. This is such a wonderful retreat for two who want to write, paint, sunbathe or watch the many eagles, kites and buzzards who visit the valley below the house.

The Stone House is perfectly located in an area called Rou in the North East of Corfu
Agni beach is 15 minutes by car and is the closest beach to the house
Avlaki beach is 20 minutes by car, where you will find wind surfing, sailing and horse riding
Kassiopi is a 20 minutes by car, and there are bars and restaurants as well as boat hire
Kouloura beach is a 20 minutes by car, and there are also tavernas here
San Stefano is 25 minutes by car, with supermarkets, a cocktail bar, tavernas and gift shops
Corfu old Town is 1 hour by car

The kitchen is very cool – it has high ceilings and a lovely mixture of ancient and modern, from the sleek wooden bowls and hundreds of wooden spoons to the canvas chairs and country-style cupboards, we would have stayed in this room all day. That is, until we saw the rest of the house. The sitting room is bright and welcoming with a glorious view, a wood burner for winter months is central to the room with comfy sofas and chairs dotted around The big bedroom downstairs is certainly a luxury, an Indian settle against the wall and wonderful cushions scattered hither and thither, this is much more a home than a rental house. It is wonderfully light and incredibly stylish, sympathetically decorated to create a relaxed and spacious home.
