Peace & Quiet

Corfu, famed for its glorious greenery and luscious interior, has become an immensely popular and luxurious destination, offering stunning beaches, great night life, delectable restaurants and boat hopping between small and quaint tavernas, meaning that even the most restless of pleasure seeker will be happy here.

The northeast coast is full of outstanding bays and white pebbled coves, higher up, away from the coast the interior is home to birds of prey, rare flora and rural simplicity. Water sports a-plenty can be found on many of the local beaches – Avlaki beach for sailing, kayaking and paddle boarding or Kalami, a little further south, for wake boarding and water skiing.

There is so much choice in Corfu. You can expect delicious sea food, all the Greek classics (done incredibly well) and so much more. Some of the tavernas in Agni are so popular they book up quickly, so it's always best to secure your table ahead of time. At a lot of the water-front tavernas you can arrive by boat, simply moor up at the jetty head on in! In San Stefano and Kassiopi, family-run tavernas serve up mouth-watering daily specials and extensive wine lists – the food here certainly won’t disappoint!

If you fancy a spot of people watching, Old Perithia is a sweet traditional village with lovely little 'kafenions’ - stop for a coffee and sit down for a game of backgammon with the locals!

One of the greatest pleasures of this gorgeous, wooded stretch of coast is that the sea-fronted properties are so accessible by boat. You can spend your mornings stopping off to swim at one of plenty pebbly coves, admiring the views of mainland Albania over the water before seeking out a new taverna for lunch. Some of the tavernas have their own wooden jetties and their owners will wave you in, catch your rope and tie up your boat before handing you their menu.

When ashore, there are some lovely boutiques and cafes to explore. We highly recommend buying some of the gorgeous Greek slippers to take home – they make the perfect holiday gift!

The tavernas are lively well into the night, often with live music and Greek dancing - you’ll be spoilt for choice as to where to head after dinner when the night is still young. You can even start with drinks in San Stefano at a sweet, waterfront bar before being picked up by boat and whisked round further along the coast to an incredible hidden taverna that’s practically on the beach.

Kassiopi has a little more going on for the teenagers/young adults in the family, with some great bars and clubs where they can dance til dawn! Taxis can easily be arranged from Kassiopi back to the villas too, so everyone can enjoy their evening!

The island is fantastic from late May through to late September, and sometimes into October too if the weather plays ball. The peak summer months of July and August are so much fun – the weather can be quite hot but manageable, and you’re never too far from the sea or a pool to cool off! The island is thriving and there’s such a good buzz about the place.

June and September are just wonderful times to go if you’re able to travel outside of the main school holidays – in June there’s an amazing feeling of anticipation on the island as the season is getting in to full swing, and in September the island is quieter as most of the main summer guests have left, but the sea is perfectly warm and the weather a little more mild but in the best of ways.
