France is our nearest neighbour and so easy to get to from the UK, with cars, ferries, flights, and trains to choose from! With its fabulous restaurants, mind-blowing galleries and sophisticated boutiques, France remains an incredibly popular holiday destination. From impressive chateaus and historical towns to dazzling beaches, lavender fields and vineyards, this country never fails to impress.

Why not take the Eurostar via Paris – then travel right down to the south and step out into La Belle France. Sip a cafe noir on the boulevard before a spot of retail therapy, or just relax on one of France’s many beaches. This country is a foodie’s heaven with wonderful markets and glorious vineyards. Choose from the famous foie gras country around Bergerac to the glitz of the Riviera - we’re certain you’ll return time and time again.

French cuisine is at the heart of the country’s culture, from hearty, pastoral dishes to exquisitely crafted patisseries. What the French don’t know about food isn’t worth knowing, and chefs from all over the world learn the French techniques as part of their training.

Petit-dejeuner is a wonderful affair – forget the rushed breakfasts of home, in France it’s a thing to be romanticised. Wander down to your local boulangerie and choose whatever takes your fancy, from brioche to pain au chocolate, stock up for the morning and don’t forget to get a couple of baguettes for lunch later on! Stop on the way back for a little café au lait with the locals before returning home with your spoils.

Lovers of seafood will find themselves in heaven - abundant supplies of fresh fish, oysters, mussels and shrimp. Try them all in a hearty bouillabaisse soup – fresh fish and shellfish stewed in a vegetable, wine, garlic and saffron broth, served with a still-warm baguette and lashings of beurre!

France is also renowned for its wine, and a trip here would not be complete with a tour of some of the wine regions such as Champagne and Bordeaux.  The French are (understandably) fiercely proud of their wine and aperitifs – unquestionably among the most delicious in the world. But nothing beats an ice-cold glass of champagne – sante!

Whether you chose to seek out the mountains to ski, take in the cultural ambience of a city or follow the coastline for water sports or relaxation, France has it all. France is bordered by three bodies of water; the English Channel to the north, Atlantic Ocean to the west and the Mediterranean Sea to the south. There are fabulous museums and art galleries in the cities and endless markets to explore in the many pretty villages dotted throughout the stunning French countryside.

From impressive chateaus and historical towns to dazzling beaches, lavender fields and vineyard, France has something to offer all its visitors. Sip a cafe noir on the boulevard before a little light shopping or simply relax on one of France’s many beautiful beaches.

Nightlife in France is sophisticated and low key. Take your pick from either an authentic, local bistro or Michelin approved haute cuisine, and while away the evening at the restaurant over a delicious bottle of Bordeaux shared amongst friends. The French countryside is remarkably peaceful, so we highly recommend making the most of this serenity and settling in!

Any time from late Spring through to late Autumn is heavenly in Southern France. For warmer weather, aim for mid-June through to mid-September. July and August are the peak months, with August being the busiest, so expect to have to book in at any sought-after restaurants and beaches will be busier, but perfect conditions for sun-seekers!

Early Spring, with the wildflowers and wild poppies blooming, and late Autumn with its wonderful golden colour-palette can be great too - sunny days and cooler nights, perfect for cozying up in front of the fire after a day spent exploring!
