Inside is richly furnished with sumptuous velvet sofas, fascinating historical portraits and an incredible collection of antiques. Quirky touches of detailed wallpapers, cartoon collections and hidden record cabinets keep the house feeling fresh and fun. Unlike many grand homes, the Duke and Duchess have left everything for guests to enjoy – the overwhelming feeling here is of generosity and hospitality.

Outside, we were enthralled by the beautiful wild swimming weir. Suffolk isn’t nicknamed Sunny Suffolk for nothing – we can imagine long, hot summers by the water’s edge with picnics and cocktails, sunbathing on the veranda and children splashing happily for hours. A seemingly endless bucolic dream.
